Trip to the Holy Land
Urshan Graduate School of Theology and the UPCI General Sunday School Division
are working together to offer an exciting tour and course in Israel.
“Following
John’s Gospel in the Holy Land”
October 25-November 1, 2010
The course will concentrate on the Apostle
John’s distinctive theological perspectives.
We will discuss the Fourth Gospel’s Christology, background,
geographical interest, structure, and narrative logic. We will also consider how the Gospel would
have been originally performed by a skilled lector before an Ephesian audience
gathered in a house church setting.
Team-taught by:
David Bernard, UPCI General Superintendent & UGST President
Jeff Brickle, UGST Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies
Many ancient sites associated with Jesus and his
disciples will be explored:
- Sea of Galilee
- Tiberius
- Capernaum
- Tabgha
- Caesarea Philippi
- Nazareth
- Cana
| - Caesarea by the Sea
- Bethlehem
- Jerusalem (including the Upper Room, Temple
Mount, Temple Institute, Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Pool of
Bethesda, and the Via Dolorosa)
- Optional Excursion: to Jericho, the
Dead Sea, and Masada.
